Alec Mihaylov
Alec says "Hello, my name is Alec. I am 15, and I like to draw and paint. Many people find oils challenging, but I find them to be quite versatile. As most 15-year-old boys, I am excited about cars. I am proud that I sold two pictures in the 2022 Pop-Up Art Exhibition.”
Emil Mihaylov
Emil says” Painting has been a hobby of mine for many years. Although occasionally enjoying acrylics, oil seems to have remained my favourite medium over the years. The more traditional approach in painting is what excites me. I look for realism in my art. In terms of subject, my interest varies and covers a wide range, from still life to figurative painting. I like challenges, and I do take commissions.”
Vicky Bodo
Vicky says “Based in Bedfordshire, I am a graphic designer by trade but have always loved drawing and painting. I work with all mediums but particularly love watercolour, pastels and acrylic inks. I paint both flora and fauna as well as creating vibrant abstracts – I love colour, the stronger the pigment the better.
As well as some of my artwork I’ll be selling a selection of art cards – the proceeds of which will be donated to the MS Society.”
Simon Hodgson
Simon’s says “My style in art is for working in bright colours (because they make me happy!), using acrylics and mixed media. Collage elements are sometimes used to help with form and for creating a semi-abstract loose style. Deliberately not adding too much detail, hopefully the viewer will enjoy the composition for it’s vibrant colour and form.”
Chenxi Ni
Chenxi says “I am a self taught photographer based in Buckinghamshire. Photography has been my hobby for many years and my passion lies in capturing the world's wildest and fastest moments. My journey into the realm of photography began with a fascination for the untamed beauty of nature and the thrill of high-speed action. Over the years, I've cultivated a unique style that embraces the challenge of difficult shots and modern retouching techniques.
My love for high-speed and wildlife photography started as a personal quest to freeze the fleeting moments that often go unnoticed. Whether it's a majestic eagle in flight or a soap bubble is bursting, I find immense joy in the pursuit of these elusive shots.”
Gillie Sharp
Gillie says “I have always drawn and painted in my spare time, but never had much of that until I retired. So, more recently, i have been able to explore new media and develop my skills in watercolour and pastels, as well as drawing in inks and charcoal. It has become an important part of my life , and gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
Young artists’ work on display
We are very pleased to be showing work by Bedford schoolchildren. They have been invited to submit pieces for a competition to be judged by one of our contributing artists. The subject could be anything relating to their curriculum cycle.
Five schools responded to our invitation to take part:
Brick Hill Primary School, King’s Oak Primary School, Great Denim Primary School, Ursula Taylor School and the Great Ouse Academy.
Here are some of the artworks that the children submitted.
Wonderful artwork from HMP Bedford
We’d like to thank Bedford Prison and the prisoners who very kindly created and donated their wonderful artworks for our Pop-Up Art Exhibition and Sale.
All of the artworks are on display for sale, with all proceeds going to the MS Therapy Centre charity.
