Paintings on Feathers.
Growing up and living in the Hertfordshire countryside, i have always been inspired by nature from an early age.
Painting on natural materials such as feathers is a big challenge as there is no room for any mistakes, but is very rewarding and allows me to use natural materials to create my pieces.
The process begins by sourcing and selecting suitable feathers, i prefer naturally shed when available, washed and sterilized ready for mounting to a suitable backing.
I then arrange the feathers and mount to back board ready for painting.
Most of my pieces are in Acrylics or oil paints and the whole process can take many hours depending on the complexity of the subject.
I finally finish the piece with a varnish and mount in a suitable frame, ready for hanging.
