Karen Yasseen
Ever since I was a child I have drawn and painted. Although I wanted to pursue this as a career I decided that a more sensible option would be to train and work as a teacher.
When I had my young family we lived in South London where I set up a small business concentrating on nursery art and hand painted furniture. I supplied shops in Surrey, Wimbledon village and St Johns Wood and completed private commissions.
After moving to Bedfordshire in 1998 I returned to teaching but decided to leave in 2020 and pursue the career I had always wanted to do.
With the help of my husband we set up Kaelya and Co illustrations. We have shown and exhibited our work at many venues around Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire and even further afield at Gardeners World Live at the NEC.
My work is influenced by the countryside which surrounds where I live in North Bedfordshire.
I work in water colour, acrylic, oil and graphite. The medium I use is usually determined by the subject matter I am working on.
